We are now organizing the 63rd Geological Congress of Turkey, one of the country‘s most important and long-term scientific activities. We keep a tradition up that was started by a handful Turkish enlightened geologists and exhibited the products created in the applicable areas continuously. Our Congresses, where the scientific research and information were produced in the peerless affluence of geology are presented and enriched by discussing, not only provide important scientific contributions to the country‘s geology but also bring the universities, public and private sector organizations together and also fulfill unique togetherness of geologists with an increasing acceleration. Congresses, with the awareness to know is not enough; are also serves the purpose of making universalized the produced information and scientific point of view, and to provide guidance of science in social life. It is clear that, in a country, where scientific thought has been replacing systematically by dogmatic-fundamental ideas, natural events turn into catastrophes, geology and its applications are still not esteemed efficiently to ensure living in a secure and healthy environment and has been cradle for science and philosophy once upon a time in history of civilization, just production of science is not sufficient. Scientific knowledge is required to be merged into the society and life. As preceding ones held under the guidance of science, endeavour, constancy and prospect, we, breed through thinking, questioning and interpreting, shoulder the responsibility for even more improving in this way, to create changes in its nature. So, we aim to deal with essential issues in geology through the Meeting, as well as effective use of natural resources for public interest, renewable energy resources, water sources, environmental issues and effects of natural phenomena that be turned into disasters negatively on people, and additionally, to make them broadly discussed by key lectures, special sessions and panels. In that context, holding an internationally-participated Meeting that taking care of the life-ethics, ethics of science and professional ethics and dominated by scientific, technical, philosophical, cultural and artistic aspects, is aimed at near future. The sessions‘ chairs will, as in the case for earlier ones, lead the Congress and communication will be conducted through internet. We believe in that, the Congress will flourish and be developed by actively involvement of both academicians and colleagues employed in state-owned institutions and private sector. We are looking forward for contributions and participations of all earth-scientists and professionals in the area, in established objectives. |
